Shania Twain Centre Holds First Concert

The Shania Twain Centre is preparing to host an outdoor concert on August 9, 2008 featuring local entertainers, and as a lead up to this big event, the Centre will host smaller concerts on the last Saturday of the month in March, April and May. On March 29th, the Centre hosted the first in the series which has been called "DISCOVER GOLD - Sounds Of Northeastern Ontario." It wasn't a packed venue, but it was a decent turn out for a first time event.

The bands enjoyed playing in the venue and look forward to participating in August. The crowd enjoyed the bands and look forward to the next set of bands in the series, which will play on April 26th. Overall, it was well received and the community seems to like the idea of using the Centre to showcase local bands. The idea of an outdoor concert on August 9th is also being well received by the community. Fans that attend the 6th Annual Shania Twain Centre Fan Convention will have the opportunity to enjoy the concert as well.

Special thanks to Midnight Express for providing the sound, lights and stage for the event. A very special thanks to the bands that performed including Tom Oliver and Friends, The Shaftmen, Sledgehammer, and Subroza. Hopefully we will see all of them again on August 9th.
